“It is an honor to serve the 88th District in the General Assembly. I am ready to hit the ground running and bring my experience to the House,” said Rep. Deering. “As a newly elected Representative, I want to ensure that I am accessible to my constituents and that they have a voice in Springfield. As a former educator, business owner, and parent, I want to make Illinois a place where families want to put down roots, businesses thrive, and public safety is constantly improving.”

Deering operated a tutoring and test prep location of the educational franchise Huntington Learning Center in her hometown of Decatur. As a job creator in her community, Rep. Deering will continue to advocate for policy that supports economic development in Illinois.
Although out of the classroom, Rep. Deering continues to have a passion for education and being a community advocate. Currently, she is serving on the Mt. Zion Community Unit School District’s school board and has volunteered as the Chair of the Decatur Public Schools Foundation. Rep. Deering also serves as the Board President for Northeast Community Fund, a social service center in Decatur focusing on uplifting families by compassionately connecting them with resources and services. Rep. Deering has also been a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program since 2017.
