On March 18th, 2025, the House Republican caucus sent a letter to the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) asking for the organization to detail how their policies and protocols for administering high school sports will be amended in line with President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order which prohibits biological men from competing against biological women in sports. The IHSA has failed to respond.
To provide safety and fairness for girls and women in sports, I have filed HB 1117, which requires school sports teams to be designated as male, female, or coeducational, with students only being able to participate on teams that match their biological sex.
As a mother to daughters who play sports, I want girls and women across Illinois to know that I have their backs.
