Ahead of the budget address tomorrow, I want to highlight an op-ed I published in the Chicago Tribune last spring that still rings true. With Illinois already facing a multi-billion dollar deficient for FY27, it is my hope that our state leaders work to address the unsustainable growth of Illinois government and rein in the unfathomable spending that is continuing to hurt our residents. Simply put: Illinois doesn’t need a bigger government—it needs a better one.
“There’s nothing compassionate about taking more from families who already have to get by with less, especially as persistent inflation drives up the price of everything. Compassion isn’t measured by how much government spends; it’s measured by whether people are actually better off.”
